Sharks & Rays Sculptures Exhibition
As part of the Life PROMETHEUS project, the environmental organisation iSea, in collaboration with the Municipality of Thessaloniki, is organising a unique guided tour featuring iconic species of sharks and rays found in Greece and the Mediterranean at the Garden of Sculptures, next to the Glass Municipal Library, at the New Waterfront of Thessaloniki, Greece!
The sculptures exhibition will take place from 20 September to 4 October, with free admission and guided tours.
33 species of sharks, 28 species of rays and 1 chimaera are an integral part of Greek seas, yet more than half of these species are at risk of extinction.
The exhibition offers a unique experience for visitors of all ages, providing an opportunity to learn more about some of the most misunderstood species in our seas, discover their characteristics up close through realistic large-scale sculptures and learn more about the threats they face!
Representatives from iSea will be present at the exhibition to provide visitors with all the necessary information and answer any questions they may have.
The exhibition will be open to visitors daily:
Monday – Friday from 09:00 to 14:00
Saturday and Sunday from 18:00 to 21:00
And on 4 October, the exhibition will be open all day to celebrate World Animal Day!!!
In order to involve educators of primary and secondary education, iSea also organized a 2day workshop in collaboration with the “Thermi Centre of Environmental Education and Sustainability” that includes the presentation of the educational material designed within Life PROMETHEUS and their review from active trainers of the region of Central Macedonia contributing to their finalization, as well as their visit to the exhibition to learn more about these amazing species.
The exhibition is being held as part of the Life PROMETHEUS project and under the auspices of the Municipality of Thessaloniki with the aim of raising public awareness. It begins in Thessaloniki and will travel to all the project partners’ countries: Greece, Cyprus, Italy, France and Spain.
