Bringing Marine Conservation to Life: Thessaloniki Hosts Mediterranean Shark & Ray Art Exhibition

With the aim of engaging and educating the public in shark and ray conservation, as part of the Life PROMETHEUS project, the environmental organisation iSea, in collaboration with the Municipality of Thessaloniki, organized the sculpture exhibition of shark and ray species found in the Mediterranean, at the New Waterfront of Thessaloniki, Greece, from 20 September to 4 October!
Over the course of 2 weeks more than 5.300 visitors, including 335 school students and 60 educators from more than 10 schools, local
organisations and Centers of Creative Activities for Children were informed about the importance of sharks and rays for the marine environment, the threats and challenges they face and the ways that everyone can participate in their protection.
At the same time, kids from different ages participated in educative activities, and colored project-themed drawings, which illustrated sharks and rays.

Although the Sharks and Rays Sculptures’ Exhibition in Thessaloniki has come to an end, its “journey” continues, as the exhibition will take place in the next country, partner of Life PROMETHEUS project, Italy!

We would like to thank all those who visited the exhibition, participated in the educational activities and “traveled” with us in the amazing world of sharks and rays!

The exhibition was held as part of the Life PROMETHEUS project and under the auspices of the Municipality of Thessaloniki the collaboration of Glass Municipal Library, with the aim of raising public awareness about these iconic creatures.
